1. WHAT IS TIAMAT? TIAMAT is an acronym, and stands for "Testing the Internet As Magickal/Aethyric Tool." TIAMAT is *only* a mailing list. It is not a magickal order, a religion, nor a group of any other kind. 2. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS MAILING LIST? This list is specifically intended to facilitate the discussion of magickal experimentation using the Internet as medium. This includes the planning of specific experiments, reports on the results of previous experiments, and the discussion of resources and techniques. It should NOT be used for discussions of magickal heritage and lineage, arguments over belief systems, flame wars, smalltalk, mythology, history, anthropology, etc., except as they may *directly* relate to such experimentation. Other than this, there are no rules. 3. IS THIS LIST MODERATED? To an extent. Once you are subscribed, your messages are not subject to any more scrutiny by the owner of this list (pali151@netcom.com) than by any other person on the list. Messages sent to the list by individuals not subscribed will be sent to the moderator before being posted, and the moderator reserves final decision privileges over any mail sent to the list from without. 4. WHO CAN SUBSCRIBE? Anyone who wants to; no moderator approval is required to get a subscription. 5. HOW CAN I UNSUBSCRIBE? To unsubscribe from this list, simply send e-mail to listserv@netcom.com. The *ONLY* thing in the message after the headers should be the single line: unsubscribe tiamat-l. Requests to unsubscribe sent to the list at large, or e-mailed directly to the list owner, will be deleted and forgotten. 6. WHAT OTHER COMMANDS ARE AVAILABLE? The other commands available to subscribers are: who tiamat-l - Gives a list of everyone subscribed to tiamat-l info tiamat-l - Gets this message mailed to you again lists - Gives a listing of all Majordomo mailing lists available from netcom.com help - Gets a set of available commands sent to your mailbox All commands use the same format as the unsubscribe command listed above. Thus, if you wanted another copy of the newuser info you're reading now mailed to you, you would send an e-mail with the single line: info tiamat-l as the only text in the body of the message. 7. CAN PEOPLE BE UNSUBSCRIBED FROM THIS LIST WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT? Only by the moderator, who will do so only in extreme cases wherein an individual veers consistently from the list's stated purpose, as expressed above. If anyone else tries to send an unsubscribe command, the moderator will receive a request to approve the unsubscription from listserv. This would also be grounds for exclusion from further access to the TIAMAT-L mailing list. The moderator also receives a notification whenever a new individual subscribes to this service. Individuals who have made a habit of causing problems for others on the Net will be excluded, and the moderator reserves the right to do this. So, for example, if you're a member of alt.syntax.tactical and are reading this message now, you may as well go ahead and unsubscribe yourself now, or I'll just do it when I get the subscription notification. Having had personal differences with the moderator or any other subscriber to this list is NOT grounds for exclusion, unless it becomes a problem in terms of the stated purpose of this service. 8. IF I NEED MORE INFORMATION, WHO DO I CONTACT? For questions specifically about these rules or *specifically* about the TIAMAT-L mailing list, e-mail can be sent to pali151@netcom.com. For information about the Majordomo mailer/listserv@netcom.com, address your e-mail to netmail@netcom.com.
